I recently had the opportunity to visit the Collect crafts fair at the Saatchi Gallery in London on a research trip with my course. We had visited before in 2017 and I'd found the exhibition interesting so I decided to go again.

I found that this time there was more variety and more interesting work than the previous year which was positive. There was one piece that stood out to me more than any others, though, which was a glass room made in UV fluorescent glass (pictured below), featuring a table. chairs, some fruit in a bowl and (my favourite part) teddy bears. The artist is _______________ and the work is called _____________. It caught my eye because of the neon colouring and also because of the surreal atmosphere it had around it.

The bears were a cute element and related to my major project theme which is 'Eclectic Subculture', so I think this piece inspired me to think about using more bright colours of acrylic in my work to almost subvert the cuteness and softness of the bears.

Other than this piece, I don't remember seeing anything else that particularly inspired me. Also, we were told not to take photos so I don't have any other pictures from Collect.

After seeing the whole of Collect, I visited the Saatchi gift shop in which I found more inspiration and things that were more relevant to me and what I was looking for.

Firstly, I spotted these lucite pills by artist Jonathan Adler.

These caught my eye, again, because of the colouring and also because I love the use of medication imagery in art. I don't know why but I just love the idea of using art to talk about something that is kind of a taboo in our society. Also, if I had the money, these would look so cool in my bedroom!
